This is kapok. Each season, wild ceiba trees across Indonesia drop seed pods packed with a silky, cloud-like floss. Nothing is farmed, sprayed, or irrigated. The fiber is gathered by hand after the tree lets it go, which is why we call it wild harvested.
Every strand is hollow, so kapok floats loft like down while moving heat away like foam never can. And because each MAREA pillow unzips, you add or remove that fiber until it fits your body and the way you sleep. A pillow that finally fits you is a difference you feel every morning.

MAREA started with a simple problem: every body pillow was either plastic foam or flattened feathers. So we built the one we wanted to sleep on. Pure kapok, organic cotton, handmade in the USA, and adjustable to the person actually using it.

What is kapok?
Kapok is a silky, buoyant plant fiber harvested from the seed pods of the ceiba tree. It feels like a blend of down and silk, breathes exceptionally well, and is naturally a vegan alternative to feathers. No animals, no foam, no chemical odors.
How firm are MAREA pillows?
As firm as you want them to be. Every MAREA pillow has a zipper that opens the inner shell, so you add or remove kapok until the loft and firmness match your frame and sleep position. Keep what you remove and top it back up any time.
Why is the kapok wild harvested and not organic?
Because organic certification exists to verify how a crop is farmed, and kapok is not a crop. Ceiba trees grow on their own across Indonesian rainforests. Nobody plants them, sprays them, or irrigates them, and the fiber is gathered by hand from seed pods the trees drop on their own schedule. There is no farm to certify, so wild harvested is the accurate claim, and in our view the stronger one: no pesticides, no irrigation, no land cleared, and standing rainforest worth more alive than cut down. The covers are a different story. Cotton is farmed, so every MAREA cover is GOTS certified organic cotton sateen.
Can I wash it?
Yes. The organic cotton cover zips off in seconds and machine washes cold. Spot clean the kapok insert and air it in the sun to refresh the fill.
How does the 60 day sleep trial work?
Sleep on any MAREA pillow for 60 nights. If it is not the most comfortable pillow you have owned, return it for a full refund. No questions asked, and US return shipping is on us.
Which pillow size should I choose?
Most sleepers on a queen bed choose the Queen, and a king bed looks best with two Kings. Side sleepers who hug a pillow or want hip and shoulder alignment should consider the Body Pillow.
Is kapok good for hot sleepers?
Yes. Kapok fibers are hollow and roughly 80 percent air, so heat escapes instead of building up the way it does in memory foam.
