An ordinary pillowcase stays open at one end. The flap works loose and the pillow slides around inside. This one closes across the end, so it fits like it was sewn on.

Run the zipper across the end. The pull tucks into the seam, out of the way of your sheets.

Is this different from a pillowcase?
Yes. A pillowcase slides on and stays open at one end, so the flap can work loose and the pillow can slip around as you move. This cover zips shut across the end with a hidden zipper, so it stays put all night.
Do I still need a pillowcase?
No. The cover is smooth organic cotton sateen made to sleep on directly. Some people add their own pillowcase on top so they have a layer to change more often.
What is GOTS certified organic cotton sateen?
GOTS stands for Global Organic Textile Standard. It covers the organic fiber, how the fabric is processed and which chemicals are allowed at each step. This product has been manufactured in accordance with GOTS. Certified by Oregon Tilth, license GOTS-10229. What GOTS covers.
What's the difference between the cover and the kapok?
The cover is GOTS certified organic cotton sateen, the same fabric as our pillow shells. The kapok inside the pillow is wild harvested from the seed pods of standing ceiba trees in Indonesia.
Why does a kapok pillow need a separate cover?
Kapok fill should never be machine washed, so the washable layer has to be the cover. Every MAREA cover is removable and machine washable.
How do I wash the MAREA cover?
