Wild Harvested Kapok Refill
Loose, wild harvested kapok to bring your pillow's loft back to day one. Unzip, add a handful at a time, stop when it feels right. 3 lbs tops up one pillow, 5 lbs is a full refresh, 10 lbs revives several.
The way sleep was meant to feel™
Kapok is a silky plant fiber gathered by hand from the seed pods of kapok trees growing wild in Indonesian rainforests. Nothing is farmed, sprayed, or chemically treated. Each strand is a hollow tube that is mostly air, which is why kapok lofts like down while staying entirely plant based. This is the exact same fiber we fill every MAREA pillow with, packed loose.
The 3 lb bag tops up one pillow that has settled over time. The 5 lb bag gives one pillow a complete refresh or tops up two. The 10 lb bag revives several pillows around the house, or fills cushions, poufs, and other projects. If you are unsure, start with the 3 lb bag; extra kapok keeps indefinitely in its sealed bag.
Open the hidden zipper on your pillow, add kapok a handful at a time, and stop when the loft feels right. Give the pillow a good fluff to distribute the new fiber evenly. The whole process takes a few minutes, and any extra kapok stores in its sealed bag until you need it.
Keep loose kapok dry and stored in a sealed bag away from direct moisture. Never machine wash kapok fiber. If the fill inside a pillow needs freshening, spot clean the pillow and set it in the sun for an afternoon. Cared for this way, kapok keeps its loft for years.
Refill bags ship from our New Jersey workshop, and standard US shipping is free on orders over $80. Loose kapok is packed to order and sealed by hand, so refill bags are a final sale. If your order arrives damaged or is not what you ordered, contact us and we will make it right. Our 60 night sleep trial covers the pillows themselves.

Organic certification verifies how a crop is farmed, and kapok is not a crop. Ceiba trees grow on their own in Indonesian rainforests, and the fiber is gathered by hand from pods the trees drop naturally. No farm, no pesticides, no irrigation, nothing to certify. Our pillow covers are a different case: cotton is farmed, so every MAREA cover is GOTS certified organic cotton sateen.
